Sebastopol geese breeding season is here, any advice?

I completely agree! I miss my sweet geese! They're very friendly and the breed is known as being used as more of a pet then poultry farming. That is very nice to know that there is nothing wrong with them haha.

Sebastopol geese breeding season is here, any advice?

Thank you! That brings me a lot of peace of mind. I was worried I let her have the egg for too long.

    New to geese any advice?

Man, I love my goslings as well. People always say how aggressive they're. You just need to spend time with them and make sure they know not to pick at you. I would pick them up and hold them for a while. It's kind of like disciplining them as they do not like to be confined where they can't...

Sebastopol geese breeding season is here, any advice?

My entire batch died late term in the incubation period. A little heart breaking but I know these geese are hard to incubate by yourself. I did have 1 hatch just today that I took from under her and it was mostly done. So far, they have not laid anymore eggs? They didn't see or have a new...

    Goslings hatching... Problems... Any Advice???

Thank you so much for responding, all the knowledge I could get means a lot as these are first year ladies. I let them sit on their own as well and decided to Candle them. One was very much alive and kicking, but hatching geese eggs,to me, are a little more work and more understanding. I'm going...

    Goslings hatching... Problems... Any Advice???

I believe I am going through the same thing. I had 9 eggs, I am on day 24 and see way too much liquid and no veins. One fills a big portion of the egg but the other maybe a third and no movement at all. I kept the humidity at 50-55 and my air cells didn't grow very big. It's still the season for...

    Feather pulling gosling

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it gets too much blood loss. I had a male and female Sebastopol geese pair and the female would also pull at his feathers. It scared me, but I let them brand after they fully feathered out. They stopped and became very close as they aged.

    Gosling plucking feathers from siblings

I had a male and female Sebastopol pair that also pecked at each other a little too much. The female would pull his feathers out and draw blood. It scared the trap out of me, but I let them be. This was my first time with Sebastopols as well and they did stop after they feathered out completely...

Sebastopol geese breeding season is here, any advice?

Hello everybody, This is my second year handling Sebastopol geese eggs. The hatch rate is pretty good, but I was wondering if someone more experienced with Sebastopols had any advice they found over the years. I gather my eggs at the very start of them laying(Maybe that is not a good idea?)My...

Sebastopol geese via momma hatched and not incubator hatched.

Our Sebastopols also group together when nesting. We only use straw, but they love it and have been laying on their eggs for a good while now. I also incubate my own eggs. I have 9 that were fertile out of about 15 I believe. After they hatch I give them back to their parents. I've noticed our...

Using an oil heater in coop?

My advice, I would use the sweeter heater that hang from the ceiling on their top roosting areas. I live in the north that gets up to -60 and no one goes outside for their safety. I would never NOT heat coop, but keep the temp at 50-55 degrees. Chicken normal temp would be 60-75.

    Phoenix egg-laying info

They start laying about 20 weeks old. I have the silver duckwing phoenix chicken and she lays cute little light brown eggs. They're very independent and I have had no aggression with my male. They stay with themselves and are very docile. They're probably about a year old now. One thing that...
