    Lavender Orpington/ Black Australorp cross

So was it a rooster? My lavender orpington did not start crowing until quite late. I too have crossed my lavender orpington with australorps. What is the temperament of your birds? My profile picture has my chicks. They are entering the ugly stage now. I am thinking about breeding back...

    Calling all Penedesencas Owners/Breeders

Thank you Ron. My daughter loved hugging the chickens when she was little but the penedesencas were so skittish and some of the hens and all the roos were aggressive. Now she is off to college. It has been frustrating to get all the pieces together to breed penes... just when I was about...

My partridge penedesenca got et and I have an old maid left so I think I may be done with penedesencas. Now have lavender orpington roo and australorp hens and have first cross. Thinking about breeding back to roo and then crossing with blue birchen maran. I always had problems with my...

    Identify that chick!

I bought my australorps from TSC but I did it online and so they were sent to the post office where I picked them up. They were not straight run or picked over. Now I do not see selecting only pullets online as an option. That is unfortunate.

    Identify that chick!

Hey, I have been looking at Asian black hen pictures and I see a lot of variation in color and comb size.

    Identify that chick!

Asian black chickens are supposedly sex linked and the males should have white spots on head. The wings look male though. Does it have any tail feathers?

    Lavender Orpington and cross breeding??

I bred my lavender orpington with my australorps and they are black chicks. I am hoping to breed back the chicks next year to the lavender orpington. The australorps are excellent layers and my roo is super mellow. I like a chill flock. Then look at crossing these with blue birchen marans...

You're probably going to hate me. I have a rooster and 4 partridge hens left. We've had several take a walk in the woods and never come back. They are so skittish that we never let them out. The two Wyandotte hens we have dominate the the pene hens. My daughter who takes care of them is off...

    Feed Mills in NC

I'm looking to pick up layer feed at Lake Wendell Farm Supply. I was quoted $11.25 for a 50 lb bag of pellets. I live in Wendell and it is about the same distance as TSC.

Sorry for the loss of your birds. It is always devastating for the kids when they see a pile of feathers where once sat their pet chicken.

Hey, I started my incubator again but failed to engage the egg turner the first day. Is this an egg ender? Should I just start over? So far not seeing much interest by locals for newly hatched pps...
