I have 5 hens and did have a rooster, but he was too rough and was injuring my hens. I knew I had too few hens and decided to rehome him to a nice man with 10 hens.
Now my hens (who free range) won't go back into the coop at night. And wont even come when I call them for their dinne!

What would kill my rooster and only take his head? We found his body under some bushes.
I live in south east Georgia and read that weasels will do that, but not sure we have them here.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
