I read somewhere it's 9 quail eggs to 1 chicken egg, but I'm hoping someone can clarify for me!

This is a silly guess, because I know quails have pretty decent eyesight... but maybe try keeping it in a separate dish? Maybe she can't find it easily enough amongst the rest of her food?
Orrrrr maybe she just likes paint, who knows. :P
Honestly, that's the part that confuses me too. Why is it that they can live in a 12"-14" little cage, but they've survived in aviaries just fine?

Does she get any oyster shell or cuttle bone? Crushed up versions of either of those are beneficial to quails, especially females, since their eggs take up so much calcium.
On a mailing group I'm a part of, someone mentioned how they bought a feather duster for their quails and they LOVE snuggling into them... She said that sometimes all she'll see is just a little foot poking out of the duster It apparently works really well for solo quail, too.

I'm planning to make an indoor quail cage for button quails from scratch and keep it in the house. I'm most likely making it out of wood and hardware cloth, but I'm having a hard time finding resources on making an indoor quail cages... is there anything I should keep in mind?
