Sorry for the confusion, I have only been treating her for 2 days but noticed it almost a week ago. It's just progressively gotten worse. No new chickens have been added. Hard to comment on her behavior due to her being broody for about 3 weeks now. She's been sitting on eggs. I didn't clean her...
No other symptoms other than the infection in eye. Started with foamy discharge. No respiratory symptoms. I had just cleaned it with normal saline and terramycin. Been this way and getting a little worse for a week now. Any ideas?
In picture three, the black one that is right up at the camera is a rooster for sure. I meant the one in the very back that is cuddled up to the little splash one
Could someone ease my mind about the little fella in this pic? Bought it as a splash hen.
also a question about the little black one in picture 3 in the back. Think female. The other pics are just of my other silkies. The white male was bought younger and ended up having a straight comb so he...
Thanks! I bought them from a poultry auction here in georgia. When I bought them, the combs weren't really noticeable (then again I'm new to chickens), then I noticed the comb difference after a few days. The guy guaranteed 5 hens, but if he couldn't even get the breed right then I'm not sure I...
If i had to guess, they were 2 to 3 weeks old when i bought them, one week ago. Somewhere around there. Paid for what i thought were 5 barred rock ladies..
Bird one
bird two
Bird three
bird four
Bird five
Thanks! They are a standard sized breed. 3 appear to be dominiques and 2 seem to be barred rocks. So i probably wouldnt want them in with my silkies forever. Just want to make integration the least violent and easiest. I live in Waycross.(ware county) Right down the road from kingsland
I have 2 silkies (male and female) in one pen and also another pen with 6 production reds and 2 australorps. So we are also raising 5 chicks which are probably 3 and a half weeks old.when would be the quickest/best i could integrate them in with either of the others? The pen with the...
thanks for the advice! The gaps are 2 inches. Here in Southeast georgia we pretty much just deal with raccoons, opossums, snakes and such. I will cover them soon. Couldn't get to it this weekend. Probably just gonna use regular chicken wire.
For my 2 white silkies.(male and female). Coop is 4x3.5. Run is 8x6. Haven't put up the ramp or installed the roost. Also haven't put in any kind of bedding in their coop. This whole thing was made from repurposed wood from a house demolition and an old dog house. Let me know what you think!
It's 4'x4'x2'. The whole top opens up. Made to last with ripped 2x4s and 3/8 plywood.
Raising only 5 Barred Rock HENS right now. Maybe if I say girl enough they'll all end up ladies this time
