I am sitting here crying. I gave away my pet chickens. I fought mites for a week and lost. Major infestation. I sprayed the coop 3 times and dusted once. I did the Ivomec drops on their back and no change. I was getting bit bad. I had them crawling up my nose and getting in my eyes. Not just in...
I have a chicken and a guinea sitting on mixed eggs. (5 weeks) I thought it was a chicken chick but now think its a keet that hatched is about 2 days old. I took it from mom guinea since the nest box is high above the coop floor and have no way to isolate from the others in the large coop. I...
I was told that they were not currenty looking at an ordinance since they claim there is no interest in people keeping backyard chickens. Keep calling.
I think a few of us should show up at a city council meeting and at the end they have where citizens can bring concerns to the council. I think we need to express the desire to change the ordinance so that they allow back yard chickens. Say 3 for small lots, 6 for larger, a dozen for each ac and...
I took her to her vet apt this morning. She seemed stronger, they said that she seem more steedy on her feet. They said to continue her meds and to give her an omega 3 supliment once a day. She should be seen again in one month. She can go back in the coop (I have a seprate coop in the coop (4...
The vets said that as long as she is eating and drinking and not in any pain or server discomfort to just let her be. Right now she is a large dog kennel in my shop. (lots of windows and ventilation and light and its near the hen house. She looks out the French doors and can see out in the yard...
Hi, I have a 14 yo Production Red who layed up until last year. I noticed a month ago that she was having ballencing issues on the roost. She stopped going up at night and is now having problems maintaining her ballence while walking or standing. I've wormed her with Wazine with no improvement...
My little Leghern is real friendly and went there are treats, she lets me know when her beak is empty. She thinks I there to just to give her treats. Yes she eats out of my hand and have had her fly up to my hand. Even my Guineas are eating out of my hand now. They see the hens eating out of my...
You might try bringing some treats with you when you go into the coop. A few grapes or an apple or some greens might get their attension and they start to come to you. Usually the alpha hens will be the ones to check it out. Good luck and keep trying.
Most of my lastest group that I got when they were 3 months old and lived in a guys back yard. (his dog got out of it pen and killed one or two and he decided that chickens were not a good idea. Anyway there was 7 hens and 1 rooster. He really never did much as far as handling them. We caught...
They really need to be outside and be birds. My poor hen had to spend 6 weeks inside with just the lights on and no birds or other animals. In her case she needed isolation to heal and rest. I would take her outside in her kenel put her on the back patio during the mornings. The hen house is...
With that info, I would say that you are not allow to have livestock or poultry. Okc had planned on backyard chickens but dropped the idea. Sorry for the bad news. If you can get away with it fine. Just don't know how strick the city will be if someone reports you. My take is that if you take...
