Get a good amount of meal worms and plain oatmeal. Put a few fruit scraps and a slice or 2 of bread in it and watch them breed. Replace fruit scraps as needed. We breed them for our lizards.
Too much skin is exposed on my Americana she could definitely be sun burnt. However, her skin is not red. My rock has less skin exposed but may have been sunburnt also. They free range during the day then we lock them up at night. Should I use something like aloe on them?
Hello all, I have 2 hens (barred rock and Americana) that have feathers missing on their saddle, one neck also. I think it is from my rooster but they have scaley skin and only a couple feathers seem to be coming back. Just trying to get some advice.
I have about 20 hens in a coop large enough for 75. (I cannot remember exact size just number of hens I can have in it). Most are just over a year but the 2-3 I have seen yolk on are older. (Not sure on age) I collect eggs several times a day and I usually loose 1-2 a day. They are free range...
i have been fighting with egg breaking/eating. My girls get oyster shells a flock block and I give their eggs shells back after I use and bake them. I have figured out it is 1-2 of them doing it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
We don’t give treats very often. A couple times a week at most. I am separating her from rest. I can bring her in my “Quarantine area” my closet. I’ll get nu stock tomorrow if I can find it. I will you know the outcome.
Yes skin is taunt and warm. No puss but irritated. It doesn’t feel like it is fluid and is soft when I pushed on it. She is one of my best layers and doesn’t seem to be egg bound. She eats layers mix made by our feed store. She is acting normal.
I rescued this lady after a tornado took out her farm and flock. I named her twister. After two days she started jumping on my shoulder and back. She rides my shoulder most of the time I am in coop. She started laying eggs 2 months after I rescued her.
Hello, I’ve only had chickens for about 10 months. I’ve learned a lot from you all..
I have a cinnamon queen with an irritated bum. It is cold in central Illinois and a lot of feathers are in the nesting boxes. I’m not sure what is wrong. Please help.
