guess I have labled the chickens wrong..My DL who gave me the parent chickens informed me they are serama chickens and are full stock.
I'm posting this picture if it works
What a beautiful supprise this morning..Was feeding the goats and chickens..noticed the Samatra hen was feding and off her nest..The nest contained egg shells..looked aroung their small area..and six fur balls the size of a quarter were running through the weeds towards their mom.. makes me...
Well momma chicken solved this for me..she started sitting about two days now..looks like some newbe's around July 18th..
if they're half as cute as the parents, I'll post some pictures..thanks for the good advice...Ed
Have a beautiful pair, a gift from my son and DIL. the hen has layed 7 eggs..They are in a six foot by six foot inclosure..she has picked a secluded spot to accumulate her eggs. to this point she has not started sitting on them, but is very protective of them..I would love to see her hatch...
Have let my flock run free for months now..but it's time for them lil buggers to start laying eggs..they all roost in the coop.
and 4 older hens lay eggs there..will the newbees also lay there..and if not how do I get my girls to deposit in the right place.
thanks for any advice Ed

I have a shot at getting a lot of grits for 3.50 for 50 lbs..my neighbor/mentor/hazels uncle..says its just like feeding corn..just mix it with the laying mash..
need to know ASAP so I can make the deal..Thanks for any replies...Ed
wondering if I remove feed in the morning..then repolace it in the evening,,will that incourage the girls to go in the hen house. Or do they just like me picking them up and setting them inside..
thanks for any input..Ed
Make the best of what we yet shall spend
before we too
into the dust...
Both hens had their inerts pulled out, saw the one, looked like a canable feast in the coop..both hens were younger by 6 weeks of the flock..signs of pecking on back.. really agressive rosters.
really take the fun out this..Old Hippy
