I am completely new to chickens. I cannot help here. I will say it feels narrow but all my ladies are smaller still so currently they fit through with ease.
A big thanks to all those who have posted tips and tricks. Finally calling it done.
6 x17 main dimensions plus a 3x5 time out / recovery extension attached to main run with a removable divider.
The gang is all settled in and doing well
Again a huge thanks to all those that post and contribute...
Almost done. Fence up, time out/ recovery room built. Minus corrugated roof panels. Cameras installed!! Landscaping almost complete. Edging and planting tomorrow.
This is getting out of hand!
They are just chickens right?
So my new 10 week old hens won’t use the roost at night. They are happy to line up during the day but at night they all cram in by the door. It is in the 60’s at night currently so they shouldn’t be too cold.
Should I be worried or do they just need to grow up?
Coop is fully enclosed, first night outside for the ladies. Roost boards may get moved. Not sure I like this configuration may be too far to lean in to clean poop boards. May also be too low for proper poop board. Tomorrow bedding in the run and landscaping (maybe landscaping) inside chores are...
My helpers today.
The other boy is supposed to be weeding garden, guess he found a few of last years carrots
And the doodle is either admiring her new friends or picking appetizers
And finally some hardware cloth installed. Thank gosh for pneumatic staple guns!
Back from vacation, painted the interior and started on the run. Hardware cloth delivered, auto door delivered and more goodies on the way. Better hurry these birds are outgrowing their brooder fast.
