Of my second set I am very surprised to report that so far I have 8 hatched (which has probably increased since writing this) and countless more pipped
My second set is due to hatch any day now. I upped the humidity last night around 9pm and had a hard time regulating the temp and humidity until about 5 this morning, so hopefully they will still be able to hatch. One was rocking last night when I took them out of the turner but i haven't...
I had an even harder time getting the humidity up the second set. i had nearly 90% surface area of water inside of the incubator and my humidity wouldn't raise above 40 and the temp dropped to 90 and wouldn't raise for hours. Finally, around 5 am (after going and spritzing the eggs every hour)...
Well the first one died hours after it hatched and the last one that has hatched is pretty weak, won't stand up and hasn't dries at all, hoping it makes it. No sign from the other 2. I have 24 more that went into lockdown yesterday
wait til they're dry, fluffy and walking around. They can be in there for 24 - 36 hours without needing food.
I got a time lapse video of my next two hatching. I quickly went in to the incubator and propped a piece of wire in front of the fan so that I don't have to worry about them getting...
well, i just had a bad experience. my first one just died. I waited 5 hours after it hatched to take it out of the incubator and only then because space was limited. It was dry and walking fine. Guess she just hatched too soon?
my first one is out of the incubator because it was dry and my fan fell, the last thing I wanted was for it to walk into the fan.
It is lonely and waiting for the next one. I have one other that has pipped and one that is peeping
Yeah the anticipation is killing me! There is a lot of movement and peeping going on, but no further progress than the one chip in the one egg. He/she is trying hard though. Tonight is going to be a toss up... I could sleep well because my temps have stayed consistent all day without adding...
wow, no one has suggested that, I will defintely try that when this set is all done. We heat our house using a pellet stove so the temperatures do fluxuate a lot more than they would a house that uses a furnace. Does it matter the size or amount of water?
I'm thinking that my issues may have been because it was a brand new incubator. temps are probably harder to regulate striaght out of the box. I have a pip today so I'm excited.
