  1. Nearly finished product. Fully enclosed 4'x8' run. Coop is 3.5' x 3' with two roosts, 4 nesting boxes, easy open doors for egg collection & pull out pan for easy clean up. There is even room to hang a light or heat lamp for those cold winters. Has a draw-string door fashioned out of an old cookie sheet. I also created a watering system out of PVC & a 5 gallon bucket that is piped in from behind the coop. Finising work that I will be completing this week: painting exterior trim to match redwood boards, stenciling my moto on the front panel, skirting the coop base & installing storage bin for cleaning supplies. Installing hooks, dome and electrical cord in advance of cold season. Things I would change: I would make it taller! (I know right? Duh... lol). I would install the nesting boxes on the outside of the coop.

  3. I used some old fence boards to fill in the gap between run and roof. The redwood color makes for a nice little accent. I framed in where a little door will go for dropping in treats and just hanging out with the girls.

    I made this myself out of scrap lumber we had around. I drew up some plans, tweaked them a bit, and viola... Awesome coop! Thanks to my family for all their help and support! =)

    How To Train Your Dog Not To Kill Chickens

    When we had Siberian Huskies (loves to kill cats and chickens) we would put them in the crate, 24 hours. Solitary confinement. They stopped killing the neighbor's cats when they came over the fence. But it unfortunately took a few times. (poor kitties)

    23 days on the Incubator

    I bought some Black Copper Marans from Ebay, and after 23 days, nothing. Candled and 5 are clear as bell, others either very dark shell, cannot see, or see 18 day type shape, but no movement??
