    That is funny, our one RIR rooster we call "Parrot" because as an adolescent he got picked on by the hens and chased from the feed troughs; so he took to roosting on my arm to eat. Fast forward a year he is now huge and thinks he should still perch on my arm. Very calm demeanor with the hens...

    I have raised different breeds of pheasants for years and chickens now for 5 years and the biggest thing even with roosters that appear ok is to make sure children are aware of them. I taught my step son to treat the roosters like a bull, never turn your back on them and to never run from them...

    Too late for this but this is our boy Parrot. He got his name because as an awkward teenager the hens were picking on him so he would ride on my shoulder for food. He is now quite the Rhode Island Red character.
