I get that, I'm just saying it's pretty much expected for roosters to crow in the morning, it's their thing. I know that they can crow whenever the mood strikes but mornings are the gig. I've never had roosters before, it's my first rodeo. Roosters are noisy, I was just asking if it's normal for...
He is a very humble boy apart from the noise, he has never charged me all my husband or my child and has never attacked any of the females. He is just a very loud mouth.
I can't remember who it was but someone in the thread mentioned it could be hormones and I'm hoping that was the case...
Yo fellow Saffa!! 🇿🇦 My Bru... This bird gave me grey hairs but he isn't going to tjaila anytime soon. He's been oddly quiet today actually. I'm so worried the oom next door grabs his kettie and turns Sprinkles into a Potjie. I'm glad I had you laughing though! As you can imagine, I've been...
Update to @everyone in the thread:
I have hung a carrot in the tree and he has been dead quiet since. Not afraid of it, not Interested either. Just quiet. Did I solve it with the Carrot of Silence? Does he know we plotting his demise/rehoming? I don't know but the silence is sweet.
Any other...
Early morning is not bad, most neighbours are up at that time to get ready for work (4am) but the rest of the day is quite frustrating. Roosters crow in the morning, fact. If he is up way earlier, I make sure all lights are off and he is quite for a few more hours. I'm trying to gather some...
It's newish, our previous roo was crowing 24/7 so we rehomed him, and Sprinkles took over right away but it was only during the day (and it wasnt as loud because he was just learning to crow, at first just thought it was top hen behaviour before he was roo Confirmed)
I think for now I'm going to focus on ignoring and creating entertainment. I've been toying with the idea of making a "chicken swing" with an old branch and some rope just to see if they would be interested in that, and maybe hanging a carrot and some spinach from the tree branches too to keep...
Once or twice during the night is understandable, but he goes on for hours, I don't know how he hasn't completely exhausted himself. It's just on and on for hours and hours. Morning times is a rooster thing, no doubt. I've grown up around farmlife on and off through my life and NEVER have I met...
Our area isn't so safe so his crowing is potentially keeping intruders out. Honestly I'm just searching for good point for ol' Sprinkles. There are definitely other roosters in the area he could be responding to, I've heard them.
