    I have always used a sixty wt bulb over my chicks. A heat lamp proved way too much. We use a large size tote covered with hardware cloth with the lamp on top at one end

    I don't wash our eggs either unless chicken poo is on them. They stay on kitchen counter year round

    Thanks for the ovation but Specked Hen is the one who deserves it. 2016 & cd's still working. As far as spacing- I have since reduced lines to three lines per 20 ft run. It doesn't take much. Netting will be sufficient too
