Hi,
So you may have seen my post a while back where I was concerned that my hen would still be broody for eggs after adopting a chick. Well, thankfully yesterday she was ready to go out and took the chick with her. She's been doing a great job. Today they're out at 50 degree weather, I've just...
Ok, good to know it might be normal. The chick was 3 days old when introduced. It is a bit independent in that it already knew how to eat and drink however it still wants to be closer to her/be under her for warmth.
Hi all,
So my silkie hens has been broody for the past week. She's been going broody every month now so last night I gave her a chick in their own confined space. She immediately accepted her and has been keeping her under to keep her warm and seemed to be pecking at a nearby food bowl to show...
Hi everyone. Sorry for the gross photo but i found this scat near my chicken run. Any ideas as to what animal it may belong to? For context this is in southern Texas
Hello everyone, (long post)

Hi everyone, so I have a bit of a dilemma. I have a small flock of chickens and a silkie I've been trying to introduce for a couple months now. Originally I had her in a sectioned off area of the run so the other chickens could see her and be close without biting. I've tried to let them interact...
Hi, I'm stumped as to what my hen could have. She always has poop stuck to her vent, even right after I clean it. Her poop has for the most part been diarrhea like. She also seems to tremor near her rear end sometimes. I'm not sure what she could have. I gave her a warm soak incase she had a...
Hi everyone, I'm caring for some chicks that are around 4 weeks old. I was wondering if I could use a desk lamp (60 watt) instead of a heat lamp? And if so, how high should I have it held above the brood? Is 12 inches fine?
