    Turkey size

    Does anyone know about how big a dressed turkey will be if it's about 27 pounds live? It's our first year doing the turkeys and we have Heavy Whites. Thanks!!

    Entertaining my turkeys

    Any ideas on how to keep my heavy whites entertained for a weekend while we are away? They have access to their pen and house but they seem very bored. We let them out to free range around the property twice a day when we are outside. We are going away for the weekend and I feel bad leaving them.

    Thanks! Ours do go outside but get locked up at night. I might give it a try. The shavings get so moist and ammonia smelling so quickly now that they are almost 7 weeks old.

    Putting them out today

    straw isn't recommended as it can get slippery and cause the chicks to have leg issues. We always use shavings from the feed store and it is just fine. Ours pick it up and carry it around but don't eat it.

    I think the birds will make the mosquitos regret being near them.... our birds love chasing and eating the mosquitos!!

    Thank you! I was thinking of doing the 12 hours free feed and taking the food away at night. We have almost 24 hours of sunlight right now so I hope that doesn't affect them by taking the food away. When the turkeys are a bit bigger I might try to get something a little higher for them to reach...
