    I used wood pellets for my adult quails.. it worked well. When can you start using something other than paper towels for chicks? I wanted to have bedding but I was afraid they would scratch out all their food then be unable to find the food and starve! :th

    I changed a lot of things after they all hatched out since it was way too small haha. The shirt got disgusting real fast and was thrown out, bigger tote, and I just change the paper towels often :)

    The firstborn chick has bullied the other chicks too much so it is in baby jail and now non stop screeching. Didn't care for the food just wanted attention or else it would drag the other chicks by the feet :barnie

    I see.. :( I had two more hatch out but one of them has the yolk sac still attached and it's dragging it around everywhere :th Is there anything I can do to help it?

    There is another chick that hatched and struggled to leave its shell and it has been occasionally moving but always lying on its side.. it's been about 2 hours since it came out. Anyone know what's wrong? Is it just weak? Ah it passed away about 3 hours after it hatched..

    One of them is drinking for sure, not eating food yet. I have one chick that is concerning me though.. i see one often actively chasing other chicks and pecking them and dragging them by the foot.. Do I need to separate it? :barnie I have an evil chick

    Yesterday it was pecking at the water and food 2 times when I came to change the rice sock, I'm not sure if it actually got any water or food but it showed interest? There's two in the brooder now and they still just nap by the heat. Since it showed interest, do I still need to be worried...

    Oh wow I heard that for quail the yolk sac counts for like a day since they're smaller so I was worried since he's only sleeping but that's good to know, thank you! I will be sure to update tomorrow and really hope the others hatch soon so he has company! :D
