    New to Emu Keeping...Help!

I also have a queastion about keeping Emu's. We are very interested in getting a pair and have a very large aviary for such a purpose. What type of ground cover can they be on safely. We have small pea gravel in that particular pen and was wondering if that would be hard on there feet or would...

I love peafowl of all colors. I was wondering what color the bird is that is in your profile pic. He's beautiful and I hatched out a male from a friends eggs that is marked just like that bird. My breeders are India Blues and I am wanting to find a hen for him.

where to buy GF eggs for hatching?

We live south of Greensburg, Indiana and I work in Greensburg a the Tractor Supply. I raise the Jumbo Pearl Guineas and I absolutely love my Guineas. They are prob. my favorite of all the birds I raise. I could definitely hatch some for you or even get you eggs to hatch. I have a few hens laying...

Another - Can chickens eat....horse feed...

I agree with the responses. It actually sounds like a supplement called Calf Manna. It is a 25% supplement for cattle and horses. It is to be fed as a supplement in there normal ration. Not as a soul source of feed. I do feed this occassionaly to me chickens. Not as a complete feed but as a...

Ringneck Pheasant info page *warning lots of PICS*

I was born and raised in South Dakota and grew up hunting pheasant every fall. I now live in South Central Indiana. I couldn't live here without Ringneck Pheasant. We started raising and breeding them 2 years ago. I don't know if anyone has mentioned that depending on the state you live in you...

How do you catch your birds?

I raise ringneck pheasant and bobwhite quail. The recovery cages don't work very well for the pheasant bc they don't really call the other birds like the quail do. It works terriffic for quail though. We use a long handled fish net. Like the ones used by fishermen to net fish from the side of a...

    quail nesting boxes

We raise our Bobwhite Quail in flight pens that are 50ftX50ft square. There is a flight net that is about 20feet in the air hanging from floating cable. There are about 100hens and 15 roos in the pen. We have no issues with fighting and they are on ground with natural vegetation so everyday...

Southern States VS. Tractor Supply Brand?

The Purina Omega 3 feed is just that. It is a 16% layer feed with added omega 3's so the hen's eggs have extra omega 3's when they are hatched. It does not provide any additional calcium for the hens. I work at TSC and also raise A LOT of different breeds of poultry and I have tried this feed...

r they really gonna stop selling DUMOR feed?

I am a team leader at our local Tractor Supply and I have asked my manager and our District manager and they both confirmed that TSC is NOT discontinuing Dumor chicken feeds. They are the TOP selling line of feed that TSC carries so why would they discontinue it. TSC would lose millions of...

    ringneck breeding advice

We have been raising ringneck pheasant for 2 years now. I let 2 hens go broody and sit on there eggs. They never did hatch them out though so I had to pull them or they would have sat on them for months with nothing happening. We raise ours in a 50x50square flight pen. About 3 roosters for 30...

    Tops of pheasant pens

Yea I would go with netting. Just make sure you don't have anything your pheasants can perch on close to the netting. We have had bad episodes with owls and hawks flying down and pinning the pheasant to whatever they're perching on and then proceed to eat them through the net. We learned the...

    Beet Pulp

I did a little research on using beet pulp for poultry and you can definitely feed it to your chickens. But, make sure the pellets aren't to big for them to swallow and it should not be there only food source. Just use it as a supplement to there usual diet.
