The only roo I've had that was mean was a mille fleur. He didn't last long at my coop! Most of my roos just ignore me, but I had a white frizzle roo that was a total love. Liked being held and petted, followed me around. He was also very tolerant of my banty roo, altho that banty did know his...
Thanks so much for your responses everyone! I figured they didn't NEED it, but they love it so much, I just wanted to know I was OK with it as an occaisional treat. I hadn't seen any adverse effects, but didn't want some hidden problem to affect them later.
I have read many posts on here about poisonous or otherwise prohibited foods, but other than one mention that citrus makes eggs taste funny, and another that it interferes with calcium absorption, I can't find any really definitive explanation of why citrus is bad. Is ANY citrus bad, or are...
Some of you may not like this answer, but I recently experienced an attack from my year-old, RIR roo. He was handled alot as a chick, because he was supposed to be female. I got him from a friend that raised him in a tub in her house. He was about 2 months old when I got him and not long after...
There is lots of info online on how to fix this. I saw a good article using vet wrap to creat a splint to straighten the toes. Just google "curled toes chick."
I don't know about the welded wire. Itvs cheap, but you can't stretch it. I used knotted 2x4 on my west side. It is pricey. I was pricing perm. chainlink. The dog kennel panel I get from Wilco...they cut me a deal because I buy 10 at a time. Less than 1/4 what installed would cost!
I did 330 feet...half my west property line in 3 foot tall 2x4 inch mesh with bottom hotwire on the dog side. The rest of the botder is chainlink dog kennel panels..movable and MUCH cheaper than permanent fencing!
Not close enough to do that. Main probelem is the owner is deaf (really!) and so has NO CLUE how annoying they are. Tried to communicate that they were coming on my property and she's shaking her head for "no" as the dogs run under my fence in front of her. As the Kitsap Humane Socity refused to...
Thanks CarolynF, This site's "reply" feature is not intuitive on my phone. Maybe I still don't have it right? Seems like thete are 2 ways to quote/reply...or is that me being IT illiterate?
Let me know how you do with the guineas. I am wanting to try a couplen but am reading awful things online about how wild they are and how they pick on chickens. I know if they donvt work out I can sell them at the auction barn for a great price, but I worried I may never be able to catch them...
