I raised a dozen laying hen chicks this spring and now have 3/4 of a bag of medicated crumbles left is it ok or should I say would it hurt to feed the meat chicks the rest of the medicated food rather than waste it???
BTW there are 40 meat chicks so they wont get much and it wont last long...
Thanks I'll keep an eye out but as of yet I have not seen that. But in hind sight they maybe the bottom of the pecking order. As I have noticed they roost side by side on the bottom shelf. ?????
I am having the same issues, I have 18 girls at the moment, a mix of breeds all first and second year layers all the sudden two of them have developed a bare spot about 1/3-1/2 the side of there back with all but the pin feathers missing and the area gets progressively redder and more inflamed...
O i totally understand and don't really mind the chicks getting loved. In fact I'm just as guilty. And I totally understand that with any animal the earlier you can form a trust and bond the better for life in the long run.
