Best Automatic chicken door made.. Chicken Guard

You can only quote YOU ARE WRONG if someone actually said YOU ARE WRONG. What I said is he made a great video, looks like a great product and I would point it out to others of the situation came up. I just didn't agree with the "massive flaw" comment and wanted other readers to understand why...

Best Automatic chicken door made.. Chicken Guard

Conveniently the timer has an internal battery that keeps accurate time even when the power goes out and runs the door cycle when the power comes back on. It hasn't failed once, and if there ever was a problem I'm either home or if i'm on vacation the hen sitters can handle the door. Again...

Best Automatic chicken door made.. Chicken Guard

The same can be said for when the batteries have gone dead on the chickenguard and the door isn't operating. At least when the power goes out ALL of my power is out and I know to check on the coop, I may not realize the batteries have gone bad. Again, i'm not slamming the chickenguard it seems...

Best Automatic chicken door made.. Chicken Guard

I didn't take it personal, I was just letting people know that what you described as a "massive flaw" really isn't that big of a deal. for the D20 and GE sunsmart timer I paid about $93.80 delivered. I went to the Chickenguard website the unit and shipping to the US looked to be about $159.70...

Best Automatic chicken door made.. Chicken Guard

I love my D20, have never had an issue. The "Massive flaw" you speak of is easily resolved buy getting a sunrise/sunset timer (I use the GE sunsmart timer) I set it once and it automatically adjusts for sunrise/sunset times 365 days a year and automatically adjust for daylight savings (you can...

    Help first winter with chickens

I got lucky with the power, I few years ago before chickens were ever a topic of conversation I had ripped out our above ground pool but the power that ran the pool filter system remained. When the chicken coop plans began I built the coop right next to the existing power box and ran the power...

    Help first winter with chickens

The cameras were wicked easy to setup assuming you have a good wireless router and the cameras are in range of it. My coop isn't too far away from my house so it has been working pretty well.. The dropcams have been working great but they are not rated for outdoors (not waterproof) With that...

    Help first winter with chickens

I did not wrap the entire coop, just the run portion where the hardware cloth is.. I did leave it open over the door and the top at the end for venting... On the wood henhouse portion of the coop I just closed the windows.. mine is pretty solid so I'm not worried about air getting in except...

    Help first winter with chickens

I am also in Mass. I'm not using any heat in my coop. The girls actually slept out in the run Saturday night which is much colder than the henhouse. I think alot of it has to do with the layout of your coop and how it is built. People like to point out in the forums that there are members on...
