My chicken has been favoring a leg. She is still able to move it and she attamps to put weight on it and use it alittle bit but i can tell she is hurting. She frequently holds it...
No rooster here. Everyone seems to be getting along fine. I have never witnessed any major pecking or bickering among the ladies. I watch them on the coop camera and they free range for many hours on my half acre so they aren't bored.
Yall dont think they are depluming mites though? Everyone is still laying an egg almost daily. If they were molting they would stop laying(in my previous experience/observations). It's weird that i have a total of 3 chickens now all with these broken feathers underneath the top layer of...
This is on the back of head/neck area, underneath the top layer of feathers. No rooster here, I know what you are describing looks like. Top layer of feathers looks fine. I don't think she is molting because there is no evidence of dropped feathers around the area. I had chickens soft molt last...
Can anybody tell me what could be wrong with my chickens feathers? Is this pecking from other chickens or mites? Sone of the feathers look kind stripped but i can not find any real solid evidence of mite clusters on the base of the feathers. Chicken acting normal, enegy, eating, drinking...
My barnevelder laid an egg yesterday for the first time. The interesting thing is that of all the breeds I have, she was supposed to be laying last at 28 weekend old. She is only about 25 weeks right now. I'm still waiting on the creme legbar and easter egger which were supposed to start laying...
Ugh she used to eat crushed egg shells like nobody's business. Idk why she's stopped eating them and refuses anything else I offer. I read that chia seeds are high in calcium and she gobbled them up right away! Unfortunately it's not enough calcium, she'd have to eat like 50 tablespoons of seeds...
I did force feed her calcium pills and she got better for about a week but after I stopped forcing the calcium, she's having the same problem. I posted another update today at the end of this thread. The only thing that seems to fix the soft shells is when I force feed a calcium pill. I don't...
Update, this chicken seems to have gone through a soft molt because she is looking alot better and she's laying eggs again. I wasn't expecting her to lay eggs until next spring after a molt but she seems totally back to normal. She is even more submissive and less flighty which is great because...
Ok I seriously don't know what is wrong with this chicken. She's laying soft shell again. I tried crushing the oyster and egg shells finer but she refuses to eat any calcium supplement. I am basically having to force feed her calcium powder to fix her shells. I don't believe that she is molting...
Wellshe laid a nice hard shell egg today! Still has that dark spot, not sure if it's a concern or not. The shell seems pretty thin but I'm glad she's not egg bound or had an egg break inside of her.
Well I think I confused everyone, my other hen stopped laying. My andalusian is the one that just suddenly stopped laying and then started molting.
My BR was having these dark spots on her eggs for a month and she refused to eat and free choice calcium supplements.
Then on Saturday within the...
Yes I have talked extensively with my vet about treatments for her. I give her cranberry, marshmallow root, and acv which treats the uti but they'll just keep coming back until she stops eating the poop. I was hoping for something to give to the chickens that would prevent her from eating the...
