How do you sell Burrmese Peacocks to a larger public? craigslist

Good question. I posted this question a couple of weeks ago, IIRC. Because I don't have the experience with peafowl that I have with other things, I thought it would be prudent to compare the pricing of the US birds, vs. imported birds. When I found out what the domestic birds would cost, I than...

    Pedigree Database for Peafowl.

Awesome idea, and as you know I've voiced my support for this from day 1. The most important thing in doing this, I think, is to create a standard, whether it be an Excel Spreadsheet, or something else, until the data entry can begin on the site. For you, French, it's going to be tedious and no...

These are supposed to be pure Java Green's expert opinions please or not so expert

There were some "experts" around here within the last couple of days. They didn't bother to visit the thread? Com' On, Man. I wish that I could help you, but I haven't received my Novice badge, let alone my Expert, or Researcher Badge, yet. I need to help an elderly person across the...

Checking interest in importing birds from Thailand

Que the business partner. You are his German business partner, correct? That is you? Reinhold Bauer? If you can articulately dispute anything that I've written, please do. As I stated above, the number (of birds) wasn't specified. What I should have said was, the number wasn't specified in...

Friederich, Towards the bottom. You're asking for donations to fund research projects. However, Chiang Mai, where you live, is home to one of the largest universities, with the largest agriculture department in the country. For what it's worth, Chiang Mai also has a zoo, that is partially...

Checking interest in importing birds from Thailand

Frederich.... As you continue to post, and from the emails that I am receiving, I'm beginning to put the pieces together on how you do business. I'm not sure if others are getting this, but here's what I'm seeing: Through your two websites, I gather that you split your time between Thailand...

    Catching escaped peacocks!

If you know how to "move" horses, the same thing applies with any animal. You "push" them very gentle using body energy and VERY small hand movements. I will, with my hands near my sides, "point" where I want them to go, until I can get to a place where I can grab them. It will look like a zig...

Checking interest in importing birds from Thailand

I guess I'm going to need to keep everyone abreast of the situation because there is A LOT of poor information being put out by others on the thread. Pure greens ARE available, and from breeders other than Prani. The birds are required to have papers that show this prior to export. I'm not...

Checking interest in importing birds from Thailand

I'm going to bow out of the thread at this point. I have read all of the posts, and understand the negativity. I appreciate the support. The thread has served its purpose; gauging interest in importing birds from Thailand. There is substantial interest. I am now going to set about making this...

Checking interest in importing birds from Thailand

A stud book is, essentially, a registry. To date, there is no peafowl registry. Standing one up has been tossed around, but it's, honestly, a tedious and thankless undertaking. Would these birds need to be documented, and tracked? Absolutely. What's the right course to go on that? I'm less than...

Checking interest in importing birds from Thailand

Thanks for the vote of confidence. The people we are working with in Thailand we trust implicitly. We have a long standing working relationship that spans far beyond peafowl. If there is anyone that I would want helping me navigate this, it would be our Thai contact. For a number of reasons...

Checking interest in importing birds from Thailand

I'm going to make this really simple. To me, doing this is a business decision. Let's start with the numbers. Friedrich just informed me that the cost to import 5 pairs of birds is $18,000 USD. My cost is $2000 a pair, shipped. It helps to have someone on the ground to put deals together.
