    Bumblefoot?

I was originally leaving it alone, and at that point it was just her middle toe, but now another toe has it. I’ll definitely do an epsom salt soak.

This is Gregory, she’s a Barred Slate. She’s the only one I’m definitely keeping from this hatch. I had them DNA sexed, and I ended up having 5 hens and 1 jake, and I didn’t even have to get him tested because he’s gobbled before.

    Bumblefoot?

My 1 year old heritage hen, Chicken Nugget, appears to have bumblefoot. I’ve never had to deal with bumblefoot before, and everything I’ve found online either contradicts other things I’ve read or just isn’t helpful to me.its on her right foot. She isn’t limping at all. How do I go about...

Sugar and her poults. 5/6 eggs hatched.

Turkey hen carried an egg out of the nest on hatch day, it had a fully formed healthy looking poult inside.

I really want to pull them, but she’s being very motherly with the other 3, who are pipped and chirping. She’s talking to them, and hissing at the other birds. She was such a good mother last year, that I’m going to give her one more chance. On a positive note, the 2 cold eggs had movement...

Turkey hen carried an egg out of the nest on hatch day, it had a fully formed healthy looking poult inside.

this is deeply upsetting. Last night I noticed the first pip, and today 4/6 were pipped. I trust this broody, she’s hatched before, and I thought she’d protect them from the other birds (I was going to seperate her once they hatched.) It was 2 hours ago that I last checked. When I went out a few...

    Turkeys moving outside

They didn’t scream at night, and eventually forgot about me once they were busy doing something, but then they’d get back at it if they saw me. It took the day I put them out (noontime) then they followed my chickens to roost. They screamed a bit the next day, if they saw me, but got over it...

🐣 Trouble in the Brooder! What Would You Do?

I got a 9/10! #4 got me. My turkeys have always grown out of ravenous toe cravings, so I went with B.

    Turkeys moving outside

As R2elk said, they are imprinted on you. They think you are mom, and they don’t want mom to abandon them. Just ignore them, and don’t let them see you. It took my first one, who was a single (not ideal, but I didn’t have a choice.), 48 hours to get over me and accept living outside with my...

I second that. Neither of those look like hens to me.

How do we get our ladies to use the nesting boxes

You can put fake eggs in the boxes to encourage them to lay there. Worked for mine.
