Review by '$pent_Hens' in article 'The Definite Guide To Roosters'

Finally real answers! Can’t stand all the posts by so called experts that start with “cull a problem rooster”. I am going through a difficult adjustment with my little roo (Roobarb) and found this article refreshing. Please send us good vibes that we will be able to teach Roobarb to be a gentleman.

Chicken limping but can’t find an injury

So far today I gave her another soak in an Epsom salt bath. Palpated her bottom and thought I felt something. Did another internal exam and felt another little egg. Just like yesterday. And like yesterday it is off center, a bit on her left side. (It’s her left leg that limps). So I administered...

Chicken limping but can’t find an injury

I have had her for one month. I know she has not laid an egg since June 1st. What ever this is, it has a shell, although it was pliable. I use a razor to slice it open. Inside was cloudy liquid / gel like substance. (Looks like aloe) She is walking a bit better. Was able to leave the coop on...

I am located in Connecticut, do you know if I can get this at TSC? I would like to start treating her today if I can.

Chicken limping but can’t find an injury

Lash Egg- Oviduct Infection']Lash Egg- Oviduct Infection[/URL] I did read your post of July 12 regarding lash eggs here on BYC. Do you know what the time frame is. The lash egg my bird laid was very small. Any chance of recovery?

Chicken limping but can’t find an injury

I think you may be correct. She laid a lash egg this morning. Not sure if I should try to treat her with antibiotics or just focus on making her as comfortable as I can for how ever long she has left. I did feel that lash egg when I did the internal exam yesterday, but is was so small, I didn’t...

Chicken limping but can’t find an injury

This is Agnes enjoying her “spa”day today. Epsom salt soak for 30 minutes. Her comb is pink, not red, but looks healthy to me. Drying off. A view from the other side. Still looks healthy. Bottom right after her soak. Feathers are still wet. Her skin between her legs is hot. Feels like a water...

Chicken limping but can’t find an injury

We don’t know how old she is. Previous owners were vague on that. At the time I didn’t really care as I just taking in a few “retired” birds. Can’t stand the thought of people culling them as soon as their production wanes. They just replied “a few years old” when asked.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. She does not lay, but never has since we got her. I will give her nutri drench starting today.

Chicken limping but can’t find an injury

My Golden Comet started limping 3 days ago. She was spending a lot of time laying down in the run, then during free-range hour (also known as happy-hour) she laid down again. She never lays down when free-ranging. When she does walk, she limps and has a strange gait. I can’t find any swelling...

Tick Control That’s Nontoxic to Chickens?

Hmmmmmmmm. Not that I think this is still open for discussion; but I posted that they had not responded. At least wanted to give the company credit for replying to my inquiry.

Not sure what to think now. But still will not spray around the coop, just around the yard.

Agnes’s comb has a blue tinge. Please help new chicken mom

Yes, most definitely will never spray around the coop again. Only the perimeter of the yard. Phew! I feel like a skated on that lesson. Again, thank goodness for all you knowledgeable members here, willing to share. So, about Agnes. I don’t know her age, as she was left behind by the previous...
