Just wondering, is catching bugs and freezing them possible? Or is there any way to catch large amounts of bugs to save them for later? Also what is the nutritional value of a June Bugs to chickens?

Hello Rosa, thank you for your concern and explantations. I am aware of the differences and all the lovely work feeding caged birds and have friendly little feathered foster parents for such an occasion which is a little blessing so I thought why not? You are absolutely right about hand feeding...

This may be a long shot but does any one sell Gouldian Finch hatching eggs? This is a small bird to ship eggs would be delicate? I found this picture off the net if it's yours may I use it? These little birds are a bit pricey so I wanted to try hatching eggs. Has anyone done this before?

Besides Grit and Steel and GameCock magazines are there any that focus mainly on oriental game fowl? I have never read any of the above mentioned and wonder are there any magazines focusing only on the oriental breeds.

I know this is an older thread but I would like to revive this thread to see if more information is available on this breed. Vietnamese Gamefowl . There is a section on this breed in gamefowl.com that has pictures and I'm like wow.

It is pricey. I mixed this with warm water and chick starter and saw the chicks feathering out really fast, also when my hens are in moult it helps them to grow their feathers back quicker. Thank you for the article I printed it out for my reference and found it quite helpful. :-)

I think this is the right thread to post this in. A while back I read an article about green houses and that chickens exhale a certain gas that are beneficial to plants. What is it? What is the gas that chickens exhale. Did anyone else read this elsewhere?

No, it's kinda hot over here and egg production has dropped a little bit, no body is broody. There are only four hens hens and we are getting like 2 eggs every other day.

I have had chickens for years, the ones I have now are two years old and they are tame, sweet and so on. There are four standard size hens and two small modern game bantam hens they are one year old. Suddenly they are mean to me. The standard hens are pecking my hands and leaving little beak...
