My Easter egger is having the exact same problem. Without forcing a calcium supplement down her throat, she lays soft eggs anywhere they fall out. With the calcium, she lays huge misshapen eggs. What feed do you use? I use Nutreena Layer Pellets and have oyster shells available.

They’re tummies are full and have a ton of air flow still. I’m a nervous mom. I’d sleep with them in my room if I didn’t think it’d kill them. My neighbor moved his 20 chickens last winter and half died from overheating I’m the truck.

We cleaned the coop this afternoon and only half closed the vents. I’m not worried about moisture. I’m just worried about the drastic change in temp. I want to buy them LLBean jackets cuz I’m afraid they don’t have enough fluff yet.

Tonight it’s importand how warm your coop is. I’m scared too. My run is wrapped in plastic to block the wind, but I’m nervous about the drastic temperature drop overnight. The wind tonight is wicked.

I recommend tequila... But seriously, the temps are dropping super cold tonight. My 4 ladies are 7 months old and I’m afraid they’re not downy enough for this wild temp change. They’re coop is clean and the vents are more closed than normal. I can bring them into a 3-season porch if necessary...
