    The Pita Pinta Asturiana

Welcome to the breed! I love my Pita Pinta! My roosters are not obnoxiously loud or frequent crowders but it can vary bird to bird. I have been breeding them for years and have never had an aggressive rooster. They aren’t over friendly sit in your lap boys but are respectful and good with the...

    fermenting chicken feed

My chickens like it and empty the bowls every day. I also scatter sprouted grain for them and veggie scraps. They go for the scattered grain first and then the fermented feed. I do add things in to the feed before giving it to them. Sea kelp, alfalfa, calendula flowers, oregano, shredded...

I chick sat them and fell in love with the breed! The next year, I purchased 14 eggs from her and hatched out 7 pullets and 2 cockerels. All of my PP are descendants of Zorro and his ladies!

We had to have a reservation, pay $5 per car, and had to wear masks even though there are acres of blueberry bushes so social distancing was much greater than 6 ft.

Yes to the PP cockerel! My layers have decided to slow down on laying. I think that they don’t like the hot summer days! I did one chick hatch from olive green eggs and blue eggs. I sold most of the pullets from that hatch and the one after it. If my girls pick up on laying, I will have green...

I do hatch barnyard mixes for meat, eggs, and fun! I managed to hatch chipmunk colored Easter Egger chicks this year. It is fun to play who’s your mama and who’s your papa!

I only breed Pita Pinta and Langshan but I love having an eclectic layer flock with different colors of eggs.

Sorry that I didn’t spell out black copper marans. It went through my mind but I chose the easier way. I do all my posting from my iPhone and with my fat fingers it is easier to use abbreviations! 😆
