I’ve just ordered ivermectin drops, and I’ll clean the coop again more throughly and with a stronger cleaner (I’ve got net tex now, I used a home made oil and washing up liquid mixture before). I’ve been giving poultry tonic every day and she’s taking that but off her food. I’ll try the liver as...
I think you are right about mites. I’ve still not seen any in the coop, but I did check her over tonight in the dark and found one on her face. I’ve cleaned the coop, put down DE, and I also put some DE on her. Should I now treat her again with DE, and all the others?
She’s 18 months, she has been laying, crop is empty. I’m not sure which are her droppings as she is in a coop / in the garden with 8 others, but no droppings have been unusual. I will try that with the torpedos, thank you.
This follows my post yesterday. One of our pekin bantams has suddenly developed a very pale face and is puffed up and hiding in a corner.
She’s had a little egg and poultry tonic but is not really interested.
Eyes are bright.
Breathing is fine.
No unusual droppings.
Tail was up, seems lower now...
Thank you I will do. Yes, she lays, it has decreased as we are going into winter. Tail position is up I’d say but it’s a bit hard to tell as she’s a frizzle so is always a sort of ball shape.
We have a small flock of 9 bantams. Yesterday, one of them appeared with a very pale peach coloured face, wattles and comb. She has been pale before when broody but not like this.
Today, she is not herself. She spent a lot of time in the egg box with a broody hen, when she did come out she...
Thanks, I’ll do that.
She’s in a separate coop and I’ve put the only other adult hen who didn’t hatch any chicks in with her.
So I have:
2 x mamas in one coop happily co-parenting 6 chicks (2 they hatched, 4 introduced)
2 x adult hens, one of whom had co-hatched 2 of the chicks but then...
3 of our Peking Bamtams hatched 2 chicks together from a small clutch around 12 days ago. They are all first time mamas and were given 12 fertile eggs whilst broody. Yesterday, we introduced 4 chicks, same breed and age, carefully overnight and all 3 mama’s accepted them straight away and...
Update: sadly, she just suddenly jumped out of her box and under a bookcase, I went to retrieve her, and she was already lying dead on the floor.
I can’t understand how she can have died so quickly?
It was only yesterday I noticed she was a bit out of sorts.
All the others are fine and there...
She’s 11 months old. I’m not too sure when she last laid an egg, we got them all in May and they just started laying a month ago. I’m not even too sure if she has laid yet.
I’ve just given her some cooked egg and some water with avipro, she barely had any, but she has rallied a little and has...
No odour from her.
I give them layers chicken pellets everyday with a handful of corn in the afternoon.
They have acv in their water.
She’s not eating or drinking.
And should have added, no she’s not eating. She pecked at some corn when I offered it by hand but didn’t eat it. I’m going to try her with some scrambled egg.
