My dogs are great with the chickens! I have three Cairn Terriers and nine chickens (three cats, parrot, pond....) The dogs are very protective of the girls. The chickens free-range when I'm home and the dogs have scared off hawks, stray cats, etc. We also have a barn cat who co-exists quite...
Here on Long Island, we have had the coldest temperatures in 3 years. The past week has been single digits with the wind factor. Out of my nine - we are still getting six or more a day! I have three RIR's, 3 Barred Rocks, 2 E.E.'s and 1 Jersey Giant. They are all so dependable - Love those gals!
I thought it would be fun to post a chicken video on youtube.
I'd love to know if anyone else has posted and would like to share any fun, silly, or entertaining videos about their chickens?
We just got power back here. And luckily with the exception of some trees and fence we faired rather well. Unfortunately, many of our neighbors cannot say the same. My chickens were a major worry - and I have to thank my husband over and over for building such a secure pen and coop for them...
Congratulations!!!... I have a couple of Easter-Eggers, one made me crazy until about 20 weeks. I predict a gorgeous blue-green egg in your future. How wonderful!

Hi friends, my girls are laying pretty regularly now. Although the size has varied, they have all been perfect. This morning, I found a soft egg. I have recently changed them to laying pellets (which they are not crazy about, but will eat). They do free-range for a good part of the day...
Well...Eight of my nine girls are now laying (all within a month of each other)! They are laying blue-green, pink and browns. I feel like a proud mom! It was worth the wait.
Thank you for saving the poor girl. I know you probably needed this like a whole in the head (I've said that every time someone has dropped off an animal). But I am always thankful that they dropped them off rather than dumping them somewhere to suffer or die. You're a good soul - Too bad...
Hi...I live in Eastern Long Island, New York. We have dogs, cats, raccoons, possums, etc. But my two biggest problems are foxes and hawks. I let my girls free range when I am home. Last week, as I was cleaning the run and coop, one nearly got one of them. I am watching the chickens "like a...
