My young chickens figured it out in one day, while they appear to be dumb, they have instinct and when it comes to water they figure things out really fast lol!
Here are my horizontal nipples, I last filled my water tank a month ago and only had to refill it as I had to clean the water due to the excessive heat here. In cooler weather the 6 gallons of water it holds should last 2 months without having to refill it.
I cannot fathom changing water daily, bless you as you are a saint for your dedication on a daily basis for your flock! I have the system I have in place where I only have to check/maintain water once a month and there is no contamination aside from the slime that we are all dealing with.

$1 each and shipping $2 so total is four (4) nipples is $5.99 shipped.
I had one nipple faulty and this great seller sent me another four nipples as a replacement for the one faulty nipple at no charge! I have 3 extra spares if one fails at their cost...
Yea I could do that end of summer, not worried about the water in fall/winter/spring. Wondering how I can keep the water from going stagnant tho, maybe a pump?
After looking for a long time and going based on my coop, this is what I have to water the hens. I built an add on in back from the Innovation Pet Superior XL Hen House Chicken Coop I bought so it could house a 6 gallon Igloo cooler and the galvanized 25lb chicken feeder...
No problem, I seen so many and modified some ideas into this contraption. They are in my living room so wanted something easier, that can't kick much pine shavings up, inexpensive, and easy to clean. Made a mini perch from scrap and just need to buy a mirror from the dollar store to keep them...
Just sharing my easy to assemble, inexpensive, and easy to maintain brooder for 6 chicks. $10 Menard's kiddie child's plastic pool, any large free cardboard box (mine was from a dishwasher), $9 chicken wire/mesh/netting, $5 of duct tape, a few metal eyes/hooks I had around to lose the front for...
Actually found this place locally that will sell me all the ones I want for $4-5 each! No minimums or shipping charges since its local.

Its agreed that reading on the Serema its prob not the best breed for our Wisconsin winters. Been searching for somewhere local that sells a mix of the breeds I want without success. Right now looking at www.thechickhatchery.com & www.cacklehatchery.com but will need to see total cost of...
Yea - I may actually go through cackel and get 4-5 non-sexed of all types and hope I get at least one female out of each. Kind of disappointing the excessive surcharge with a 20% failure rate. Maybe instead of a Serama - Mille Fleur d'Uccles Bantam instead. All males and excess females I guess...
