    i'm thinking about getting white rocks for dual purpose birds. what hatchery are you guys using? i notice that hoovers hatchery has them for a decent price, and was thinking about ordering from them.

    cheapiest hatchery

    I ordered 30 CX from Hoovers Hatchery this year. They arrived on May 1, and I lost 3 within 4 days. Cost was $1.15 per cockerel. Shipping to TN was around $30. I ordered some SLW as well. These birds have done very well.

    Scalding Pot size??

    I hear my water up in an aluminum pot from walmart ($28) that I normally use for brewing. It's a 32qt pot, but I only do about 16-20 qts. Then I pour that 4-5 gallons of water in a 5 gallon bucket and dip birds in that. Works well for me. I can heat more water to use if that bucket gets too...

    I think it's going to have a rose comb. The comb is red but very flat and wide. I was thinking brahma something with they way the neck feathers are.

    Feed store said he was black australorp. The grey that is coming in on his neck had me skeptical, but maybe they were right. I dunno. Whatcha think?
