    eggs from same duck?

The larger egg was a double yolk. And delicious. Still not sure if from same duck. I haven't collected any in a few days. They have either stopped laying, or hiding them really well. Haven't found a single egg since the large (double yolk) one.

    eggs from same duck?

I got these 2 eggs about 24 hours apart. My pekins have just started laying. A total of 5 eggs now, including 1 soft shell. I'm trying to determine if both are laying. I get 1 per day, so i would assume only 1 is laying. But there is a serious size difference. The pic doesn't really do...

What To Use For A Duck Pond And How To Keep It Clean??????

Well, it's nothing fancy, but this is what I did. I built my pond up. It slopes slightly, 10 inches to about 12. I put in a drain at the "deep end". So I dont have a pump/filtration system. But it can be drained as needed. I understand that wouldn't work in many cases. My pond is very near a...

    Pekin Duck Club!

Major size difference in my new pekins. 5 days difference in age. The small one is half Crested, and has a small spot on the back of his/her head. I'm wondering if the larger is possibly a Jumbo pekin? Anyone have any ideas why such a difference? I'm just curious. Both appear happy and healthy.

What To Use For A Duck Pond And How To Keep It Clean??????

Question for anyone who has a pond with a liner or big tubs. I'll be constructing a pond this next week or so. I've already ordered the liner. Will the ducks have any trouble getting out? Do I need to slope the sides? Build in a step?

Best Options for Owning Multiple Ducks

Thanks. I would stay same size. Just looking to add a bit of color. Looking at maybe a cayuga drake. Not sure why, but I like the idea of little black and white ducklings (if that day ever comes).

Best Options for Owning Multiple Ducks

Does it make much difference what type of ducks you mix? I have 2 pekins and looking to add. Can I add anything? Or specifically anything to stay away from?

    Need DIY duck pond ideas!

Trying to revive this old feed. Looking to build a pond for my ducks. I just ordered a 10x10 liner. This should be a good (starter) size. My concern is that the rubber liner will be very slippery, making it difficult for my pekins to get out without struggling. Should I slope the sides...

    When do duckling start laying?

I have a similar question. I have a couple pekins, about 5 months old. I don't believe they have started laying yet. But they have run of my yard during the day. A small wooded area w/ a "creek" that is dry most the time. Will they lay in their house? Or will they choose some random spot...

what kind of dusks are these

I think they look like pekins. Poorly feathered, are they young? I'm not very familiar with other breeds. It's possible they could change colors as they age. I'm quite certain they are not call ducks. They usually dont stand so tall, have shorter bills, short legs, etc. (I raised calls...

    purchasing ducks

One more question. If I get a couple varieties of ducks to go with the pekins I already have will they "flock" together around the yard? Or will they tend to separate ?

    purchasing ducks

But they will get along, not fight or anything?! Also, i've read that pekins don't nest well. Again, not my main goal. But if i am being honest with myself, that time will come, eventually... haha

    purchasing ducks

I'm gonna butt in and ask some duck questions. I currently have 2 female pekins. I'm looking to get a male and maybe a few other ducks as well. A little variety. Is there anything I need to be aware of? Breeds to stay away from? Also, I am looking at possibly getting a rouen. I raised Call...

    Odd Behavior

I waited a few days to be sure. But my ducks are back to normal. They go into their pen at night. And honestly they seem a little more "clingy" now. If I am outside (daytime) they come up to see what I'm doing. They follow me around. They are awesome. This is why I got them. Thanks for the help.

    Odd Behavior

I live on about 2 acres. The creek is only about 50 ft from the pen. It is technicall the property line, but the neighbors are my in-laws. They are not at all concerned with them wondering over. I like the suggestion of peas TLWR. I should have mentioned i always feed them when i pen them up...
