Sadly, we do not have a safe place to lock them up during the day. Their coop leads straight out to the backyard.
Guns are not an option either.
Setting a trap and relocating might be an option, I know laws for capturing and relocating possums are stupid - you can only release them so far from...
Public Holiday in suburbia Melbourne today, we are having a lazy morning cuppa on the couch and about 9.30am the girls all start, what I initially thought was, "Come look, I've just laid an egg song".
As sometimes happens, everyone joined in the song (we have 9 girls and 1 silkie Rooster), and...
Hi everyone.
We are adopting a couple more girls in 2 weeks as ccurrent owners are moving and can't take their girls with them.
But they can't remember what breed this lovely lady is. Just curious.
Thanks in advance.
Pip
I love seeing everybody's chooken collection! I have a few things but my most recent is a sign for the coop my brother and sister in law made me for chrissy.
It is terrible. Quiet.
And my favorite girl was taken too. Shh don't tell the others that they aren't my favorite!
Stronger coop and carefully choose our chicken sitters from here on out.
Thanks for letting me vent my frustrations.
BYC is great for talking to other chicken minded peeps.

Is it terrible that we are already talking about which breeds we would like next?
Did ruin the day, still...
Just need to vent.
Went on holiday for 8 days and had friends stay and chicken sit and house sit for us. We were in the the middle of outback australia so we're out of range for a few days, 2 days before we could get home we got into range and got a message to call ASAP.
My heart sank. Half our...
Put grit out this morning and hid some treats around the yard for while we were at work.
I got home well after everyone was in bed but hubby said he got 2 good eggs (neither were Rosie's) and no evidence of broken or eaten eggs. Hope he is right.
Always put plenty of bedding out. The girls...
Thanks. The feed is 18% protein but we recently dropped the pellets from the mix as we thought they weren't eating it.
Last winter I used to be good and make them scrambled eggs about once a week. I will get back to feeding a variety of treats and get to the farm shop this weekend and get some...
