Inspect the dots, I may guess the red could be mites, and the black blood? Let her out in the yard daily, they love it. If you do have mites, dust with Sevin 5%, available at Walmart in the garden section (inside). Good luck
We grab them, then get ahold of their legs and flip them upside down. They struggle a little bit, then usually just hang there. It does not take much, and do not get it in their face.
I usually do the whole bird up to the base of the head, and rub/fluff it in a little.
Yes, garden, inside. It is funny because before I knew what I was looking for I searched out feed stores till I found it.
Then I see it at Walmart. The spray is in a red bottle, and the dust is in a shaker can.
My roosters have lost a few spurs. They tend to bleed alot, it usually stops but one I wrapped up for a day or two. There have been no complications. I read to remove spurs, take a hot baked potato, stick it on the spur for a little bit, then snap it off. I have not tried this though. Good luck.
I fought mites for a few months, I lost one of my roosters to them. I also got bit alot. You must get rid of them ASAP, Permethrin was a waste of time, I went through 2 or three cans of it.What worked for me the first application was Sevin 5% dust. It is available at walmart, and hardware...
We took her to the vet. After extensive tests (3.5 hrs) and draining 1/2 liter of fluid, they think she has an infection of the oviduct. We have antibiotics, diuretics, good bacteria replacement gel, and pain pills. She seems much better this A.M. and has been eating. The fluid has not returned...
My gold laced wyandotte has/had a distended belly. I took her to the vet, they drained 1/2 liter of fluid and prescribed antibiotics. Her belly was kind of soft, they think it is an infection of the oviduct. Good luck.
She does generate some small droppings, the past few weeks small and fairly hard, brown and white.
The last two days she has gone very little, and it is mostly white and loose.
We feed layer pellets, and every morning they get scratch and I cook them noodles, corn and mixed veg. they have free...
Well I have given her a warm bath, and now she is resting on fresh orchard grass.
She drinks water and will eat a little. Her belly is bigger than it should be, kind of soft on one side and firmer on the other. I put vaseline on her vent, I wish I knew what is wrong with her.
Hi all, my gold laced (Little twin) is sick again. She was having trouble pooping a month ago, had her in the house for a week on a special diet, bathed her in warm water and put vaseline on her vent. She got better and went back outside. Now she has taken a turn, she is very slow and lethargic...
My girls had northern fowl mites, and they would get on me and bite, leaving itchy red welts.
They are hard to see, light brown and about the size of ground pepper or sand.
What finally worked for me was to dust them with Sevin 5% powder, and spray the coop with Sevin spray. I have seen it at...
They always have layer pellets available, and every morning for breakfast they have noodles and corn with a few mixed vegatables. They get scratch every day, and I throw out oyster shell and grit once a week (lasts all week). They get out to range in our yard every day.
She has been staying...
I have seen in the past week or so a slight head shake when she is on her roost at bedtime, not in the last few days though. Her belly does seem a little puffy and she is not pooping much, and when she does it is a bit strained, and not alot. She has been eating a little, and went out for yard...
Thanks, and yes she is inside now resting comfortably. I use D.E. in the run and on the floor and shelves of the coop.Upon last weekends cleaning we sprayed with Sevin and let it dry before putting the hay and straw back in. We also purchased a hand crank duster, and dusted with 5% Sevin. After...
