Broody sitting on eight eggs, four have hatched--how long should I leave the others?

The remaining eggs haven't pipped. Mama hen and the chicks do have food and water where they are, it is a large double nesting box and the chicks are up and about often already.

Broody sitting on eight eggs, four have hatched--how long should I leave the others?

I don't have a rooster but borrowed some fertilized eggs from a friend when one of my hens went broody. Four of the eight have hatched--one hatched two days ago, and three more hatched yesterday. There are four more eggs under her and she is still sitting on them; how long should I leave them...

    Deep Litter Method and Poop

I think "clean" pictures have new litter spread on top.

    limping pullet

OK Thank you, I will continue to keep an eye on her. She was hopping around the foot of the ladder after the others went in to roost tonight so my daughter lifted her up.

    limping pullet

She's spending a lot of time lying down but I think it is because of the leg. I noticed her scratching her head with that leg, it seems to only hurt if she puts weight on it. She is eating and drinking.

    limping pullet

I have a light brahma pullet, about 11 weeks old, who has been limping for the past couple of days. The limp is in her left leg, I have picked her up and looked at her foot and leg, do not see anything amiss from the outside. Don't really know what I would be looking for though other than an...

    Run size

If I have six chickens, how big a run would I need if I don't want it to just turn into dirt? I'm debating between building a large run vs. continuing to do what I am doing now (moving the coop and small run regularly). Also, would any run need a roof of some kind if I don't want chickens...

What do you base this on?

Oh, here's a kid funny for the day: My three year old calls the Buff Orpington a "Buffalorpington"; it's adorable and I can't bear to correct her.

I think she's 9 weeks, maybe 10. I've lost track (I have enough trouble keeping track of my kids' ages!) I'll see if I can get better pictures tomorrow. I've questioned most of them at one point or another--then one day I realized I was examining my black sex link for signs of being a...

    Glad to be here :)

Yes, really hoping for all hens. My kids are super attached to them already and we're not allowed to keep roosters so...fingers crossed. I've been a bit worried about the light brahma, "her" comb turned pink quite early on and she has huge legs and feet.

    Glad to be here :)

I decided to jump into chickens this year and brought home six chicks. They're about 9 weeks old now and seem happy out in their coop and run. I went with a hodgepodge: Light Brahma Buff Orpington Black Star Easter Egger Welsummer Barred Rock I'm sure I will have lots of questions as we go...
