Thanks. We'd be moving to a colder climate so I think that would be worse for him. He's had female geese. But unfortunately they have passed away. He has always thought I was his. So he really never bonded with the females.
I have had Soos a single male African goose for 8 yrs. He lives outside with my chickens. But if I'm out there he is constantly with me.
I may be moving and would not be able to take him. Does Anyone know if he would/could adjust to another human family?
Thank you for answering so fast.
He is free range mainly on sand and small grassy area. I'm in fl we have no real dirt. So it's a soft surface.
I didn't even know he could fly at all. He flew out of deep soaking tub and ran through my room and jumped in the pool, where he's not supposed to be...
He is having trouble standing or walking for long period of time.
I started him on calcium,
b complex, niacin and amoxicillin.
I lanced the growth there is no infection, its solid but pliable.
I've dealt with bumble foot, this does not look like it.
Its like a flap of skin. It did not hurt him...
UPDATE;
So as I suspected Angel is really an Angelo. His drake feather finely appeared. And he has been renamed after my youngest favorite childhood character Darkwing Duck.
He is doing really well with the others and holds his own against the girls.
He can keep up with the pack. But...
So for sure one has the raspy voice.
But Angel is still got a peeping sound.
Maybe more was not developed then just the legs.
There also is no eggs. I would think at just under 6 mo I would starts to see an egg. That and all the calcium.
Hi Miss Lydia. Here is an updated pic of the group. Angel is on the far left, butt to us.
Now none have drake feathers. Three definitely distinct quack. Two peep quack.
I think their trying to drive me mad figuring them out
Good to hear there is some progress. Keep up the antibiotics. Try the complex b too it can't hurt.
I hope the sardine mash works.
I had to keep mine in the house for a month in the garden tub. It was well worth it.
Keep us posted as to how he's doing.
Sorry to hear about Riddick. I just went through a month of rehab with one of mine.
Complex B Miss Lydia suggests greatly helps.
I mixed the complex B with a combo of a small handful of feed, 1/2 a sardine pkged in olive oil, put a little of the oil in and a tablespoon of plain yougart and...
My transgender hen is an EE too. Maybe it's that breed:)
Hopefully an egg will appear soon. With all the calcium she has been getting the shell will probably be hard as a rock.
If one doesn't appear in the next month I'll know she is a he with a hidden secret.
i have vent checked Angel multiple times over weeks span. and nothing pops out. iv'e never had this happen. She is 1 week away from 6 mo old, no drake feather when I got her over a month ago either.
Maybe shes gender confused,
I have a hen that for years laid me eggs. I noticed they started...
Yes she peeps like a duckling. Once in a great while you get that raspy noise, but no real quack. Out of the four stooges there is 3 females and one distinctive male. Actually none of them stop making noise:)
Today is the day. She/he still not sure. Vent checked again saw nothing. But still no quack.
Put Angel out with others. I knew she was ready cause she flew out of tub three times in past day.
Put her in with the four stooges.
She immediately started playing in their water.
That same one came...
Sorry I haven't been on. I was away for a few days. When I got back she had gotten a bit stronger. When she heard my voice she managed to jump/ fly out of the tub.
She is able to stand better. And she trys so hard to walk. But she keeps stepping on her own feet.
So for the moment she's...
Well that was a diaster.
As I brought her, probably him out no quaking but a lot of loud excited peeping. Way to old to peep.
Put her down she hobbled over to the group and immediately the oldest of that group, which is about 4 weeks Younger then her. Walks right up. Snapped at her, put...
