Silkie Sleeping All Day - No Eggs

Thanks for your reply guys! We live in the suburbs so no roosters allowed - they aren't sitting on any eggs as they haven't produced any in a month! I heard something about dunking them in cold water lol, but it's gotten really cold here the past week and don't feel like doing that at the...

Silkie Sleeping All Day - No Eggs

Hey guys, I have 4 silkie hens and they started laying eggs in February (they'll be a year old in July). Everything was going just fine, loads of eggs, then a few weeks ago the eggs stopped. Now they sit in their little hutch all day, everyday. I've checked their eyes and skin - dont see any...

Silkie chick shaking and falling over?

Thanks for the comments guys - I am so bummed. We dont have any machinery around....even our lawn mower is electric :/ but it is an old house and an old plot so I cant be 100% certain? They do get to go out into the grass for short bursts and eat veggies from our garden. I will take her in and...

Silkie chick shaking and falling over?

Hey guys - very new to the chicken world and have 10 silkie chicks. They are about 8 weeks old now and live outside in an enclosure. A few days ago when I went out a I noticed one of the painted chicks was lying weirdly on the ground and all the others were stepping on her. I fed them but she...

    Rabbits Getting into Chick Scratch

Update! We drilled the feeder onto a heavy wooden plank and even though the rabbits have tried...it remains upright *hallelujah* :D thanks for the advice guys!

    Rabbits Getting into Chick Scratch

I would be sad to separate them so I hope drilling it onto a heavy board would be best! They are very good jumpers and have no problems getting up ramps :P So I will experiment with that this weekend! Thanks guys :)

    Rabbits Getting into Chick Scratch

They are silkie chicks and they are about 6 weeks old. Elevating it sounds interesting, I mean the rabbits are alot bigger than them but if we perhaps somehow fashioned it onto their coop they wouldn't be able to flip it over!

I am in the same boat as you...waiting and watching to see if mine are male or female! My guess is also that it's a roo but you never know till it lays an egg

    Rabbits Getting into Chick Scratch

Sorry if this is the wrong section but I need some crafty ideas to keep my rabbits from stealing all the chicks food! :p:barnie The chicks and the rabbits live together in an outside enclosure, each with their own hutch/coop. The chicks have their scratch in a little long try which is covered by...

Cool! You live a bit north of my hometown in Montgomery county ^_^ We were all there in April (which...btw was a very cold April lol) but I sure miss the summers. No such things as fireflies or cicadas here :/ (or the sun setting for that matter). Thanks! That's one of my little silkie...
