    Crop That Won't Empty

Thank you, and I’m sorry for your losses. I wonder if it is something underlying with mine but, I haven’t mentioned that she is less than a year old. I’m thinking she ate the straw we had up in the run, and it’s caught and not breaking down somewhere.

    Crop That Won't Empty

Holding her own, but still not well or getting better. We had given her the recipe above a few times; maybe not enough or consistantly enough. We'e going to try some does of orbiotic now, Monistat 7, cinnamon and oregano oil in yogurt....we're just trying anything now. I feel so bad for her...

    Crop That Won't Empty

Hi Coach723 - We had actually given her that recipe a few times before I saw your post here, and again after. Not the same frequency though, and it was really hard to get it ALL in each time we did do it. She's holding her own, but still not well. We're moving on to actual probiotic and...

    Crop That Won't Empty

We've tried burping her, although not using that technique. Some liquid comes up, but not the rest of what is in there. It hasn't resolved anything yet.

    Crop That Won't Empty

Hello Fellow Chicken Lovers - We have a Blue Easter Egger, whose crop we cannot get to an emptty state. We first noticed a few weeks back that she was making funny head movements. Always having quite healthy chickens, it was about a week ago that we finally figured out she was having a crop...

    Neighbors Spraying Trees; Concerned

Thank you for those informative links and suggestions, @coach723 ! At this point, I only know that with the first neighborhood sprayers across the street, the active ingredient in what they were spraying they SAY is 'Bifenthrin', which from my research is just highly toxic to 'aquatic animals'...

    Neighbors Spraying Trees; Concerned

I almost put this under Predators and Pests....Pests being the neighbors. Lol We live in fairly close proximity to other neighbors. Two of them have now had some kind of spraying service come and spray something all up into their yard trees. The spraying is similar to a fire hose! And it leaves...

We Unexpectedly and Suddenly Lost Our Rooster, In a Puzzling Way.

You know, we didn't even know that was an option, and I'm just seeing this reply. He's been buried now since a year ago October. He really was beautiful. He was getting so big though, and more and more aggressive. So it was kind of a blessing I guess, but we still miss seeing his beauty, and...

Predator Attack, Survivors Staying in Coop

Great thoughts for more consideration here. The chicken we lost was higher in the chain. But so far...knock on wood....no conflict has seemed to arise. Regarding their security options: Their coop and MAIN run, is 100% secure from predators. However, their main run can be opened to a more...

Predator Attack, Survivors Staying in Coop

True. It's been a few more days now, and they are coming around. They do seem to be completely avoiding where the attack ended tragically, along the fence, which used to be the main area the chickens would run if a predator flew overhead. But....they are out and about more now, and that's a start.

Predator Attack, Survivors Staying in Coop

Ok, it's good to hear that their behavior is normal, after such trauma in their territory. They did come outside today, but stayed under the coop - which is secure. So, they made some progress today. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH, for your replies!! We feel better about this now.

Predator Attack, Survivors Staying in Coop

I would love all of you more experienced chicken-keeping folks to let me know if this is normal chicken behavior, and if there is anything we should be doing about it. We have been keeping chickens for 2-1/2 years now, and a few days ago, we had our very first tragic predator attack! I thought...
