    do you do anything in the winter to keep your chickens

    I live in southern PA and winters here are so, so. Our coop is Amish Built and is just stick built and raised off the ground about 1 foot. This is our first winter with chickens and I'm curious if there is something special we should do to the coop to make it more comfortable for our 4 girls...

    when to start layer feed?

    Great advice for us beginners. Thanks! So here's another question. I see egg washes in the stores for eggs. What do you all recommend as the proper care for fresh laid eggs as for as cleaning goes?

    Are there any plants a chicken shouldn't be near?

    I love to plant flowers and would like to dress up the outside of my new coups and run. Any suggestions on good flowers that chickens are drawn too and will enjoy? Plus any you'd keep far from them?
