Thanks for the replies. They have bright red combs and waddles which have been like that for about 3 weeks now. We feed them on layers pellets mixed with grit and the occassional handful of corn. They get fresh water everyday too. I wasnt sure if they could be too fat or if it was to do with the...- PNE443

Mixing Quail of Different Ages??
I have 2 lots of quail. The first lot is 6 weeks old and the second lot is 2 weeks old and I was wondering if I could mix them together with the brooder lamp on in the cage? Just so I dont have the 2 cages and keep them all together, if anyone knows? thanks -

Sexing Button Quail Help?
Yeh it looks like I am just going to have to wait. When I was trying to vent sex them they all looked the same sex to me and now one has rusty coloured feathers developing around its vent area which I think means its a male from what I've read. I will just have to wait and see what happens but... -

Thats lovely! My kids were involved with the whole process too. They took lots of pictures, and watched the eggs hatch and then when the chicks were older they handled them and helped clean them out. Its a lovely experience to share with them. -

Sexing Button Quail Help?
I was just wondering what age you could start sexing button quail? I have 6 which are currently just 4 weeks. I've tried vent sexing them with the guide on this forum but they all looked the same to me and I couldnt decide if they were hens or cocks. Is it too early to tell? thanks -

I'm not an expert by any means but it was just to say I felt like you did as my incubator is homemade and we had a couple of temperature swings like you have but out of 30 of our eggs 10 have hatched.
