At 9.5 weeks did you lose any birds? Mine will be processed at 10 weeks.

Consider my interest piqued. OCD works for me too. I'm sure the limiting factor is keeping the birds alive while building muscle. I'll let you know if I find something.

First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

I know! it wasn't until I was looking at the pictures last night that I realized how disproportionate they are. It's like looking at a Great Dane puppy wondering how on earth it's going to grow into those paws. My Dark Cornish, White Rocks, and Jersey Giants, all the same age, are nothing...

First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

Well, they're outside in the tractor. I made an 8x8 pen for them. They seem happy although they're huddled in the corner. I'll worry like a new mom until I see them in the morning... 21 days old today. 21 birds. Weight ranged from 1.2 lbs to 1.8 lbs. Average was 1.6 lbs. Feathering was...

First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

Meyer says to feed Medicated started the first 3 weeks then switch to broiler feed 18% on a 12 hr on 12 hr off schedule. I have 28% meat bird that I'm feeding to my other birds and am wondering if this is too high for the White Broilers. I plan on processing at 9 weeks. thoughts?

My meat birds, called White Broilers, came from Meyer hatchery in Polk, Ohio. I was able to drive the 90 mins to pick them up rather than pay shipping for the 34 chicks. This is my first hatchery experience so I have no results or insight into other hatcheries.

THE Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco Thread; Hatches, etc. (PICS)

Well, I ordered 4 each of Chocolate and bronze eggs from Porter's. He sent me 5 of each. 7 made it to lockdown and 5 hatched!!! My first turkey poults! Collecting eggs to hatch some chicks from my own stock. Love my little Brinsea. I used canned air to spray all the debris out of the top. Clean...

    Beltsville Small White Turkey

I received my first SBW poults from Julie Gauthier and am excited to see them grow. I'm curious if anyone has experience with her line. I'd love to show and breed. The babies at two days and one week. I'm tracking weights and growth rates. So, I just got an email from her. Her SBW are from...
