Thanks for your reply! Yes…I realize that, but I was wondering if this very big boy is a jersey buff or bourbon red mix or ?? I have blue slate, Narragansett and Bourbon Red toms…but just can’t see what this guy may be. Thanks for any help.
Just wondering what breed tom I have here. Saved from a farm…he is SO much lighter than my bourbon red and I can’t find anything online that is whiteish and beige like him. Anyone have a clue?
Thanks for the help!
So I just read about new skin. Seems like great product, but it forms a hard covering…which will no doubt ‘bother’ her. I really think I need some way to keep her from touching her legs and feet for maybe a week or so while they heal up. I am hoping that will work for her. Not sure what to do if...
Thanks for your reply. I am not familiar with new skin. Is it like blue kote? She pecks right through the bandaides and bandages until she bleeds…actually hurting herself. Would she be able to peck through this product?
My 1 year old black Spanish turkey hen is still picking at the wounds on her legs. After weeks of cleaning well, using antibiotic cream, using self stick bandages (and having trouble getting them off because I am doing this alone), she is still going through this…we both are…and I feel so bad...
I realize the hen has to lay down…and they do lay down on the roosts also (we have wider boards as roosts…2x8’s)...so I was just wondering if nighttime would also be an issue. Thank you.
Thank you. Yes..I was thinking I would use the temporary privacy fences…the fabric ones that people use for their pool areas. They would hang nicely on the pen walls…like I use on my chicken pens to keep the wind out of the pen Floor areas.
Well…I guess both situations are possible…and seeing mine all together and the initial ‘mating’ scenarios that are currently taking course, I think my little ones will be ok together, but I am still leaning towards keeping only one of the males with the females at a time and using that extra...
Thanks for your reply. Yes…I know both are important, but I only have the one extra space currently. I know several people that do not separate their Tom’s and hens because they have always been together and get along well. I have this same situation, but want to use this area the best way that...
Hi! I have a pen (about 8x16) that extends off of my larger pen where my turkey Toms (3- 2 Narraganset, 1 Bourbon Red) and hens (7- 2 Narraganset, 3 bourbon red, 1 black Spanish, 1 blue slate) live. I was thinking I would make the little pen area a temporary ‘home’ for 2 of the Tom’s during...
Thank you for that. We had to humanely put her “down”. I just couldn’t let her suffer any more. I prolonged it for her to give her EVERY chance to recover…but she just got so much worse. She was very sweet and so young…still sad about it.
