    Coyotes and coons won't come into the city during the day. At night the girls are locked up. . I thought I read several places deep litter is 4-6". I'll have to research it more I guess

    Ok. Enough with predator talk. I promise you all we are good on predator protection. I also close them up at night inside the coop for extra protection Meepbeep, I have about 4" of chips in there now. I've seen several posts about how to do the deep litter but I've never seen the required...

    My back yard is secure from predators. It's completly fenced with no holes for anything to get in. Dogs could care less about em. Plus the 2 dogs weigh a total of 9 pounds combined so I think they are safe lol

    So all I really have to do is make nesting box partitions. I have a few months before that has to be done. Doing deep litter method. Here are pics. Hard to tell but the coop has 2 roosts inside. Any suggestions??[/IMG]

    How to start Deep Litter method in new coop?

    I am new and starting it as wel. I just put about 4 inches of horse pine shavings in the coop. I figure I'll add in some leaves or other stuff if it doesn't decompose well. I am just going to turn it often with a pitch fork. Should work fine as my ventilation is more than enough
