    Over the past two weeks I have found a broken egg below the roosting bar. 1) is this due to a health problem ? 2) should I reposition the poop tray under the roosting bar to be 4-6 inches below the bar ?

    Which breeds have you had good egg production from?

    The EE is my best layer and she seems to always lay early in the day. Our BO are good layers but lay at all hours of the day.

    From the advise I received it’s important that the hen body’s temperature Drops. So keep her in the cage and have the cage elevated so air can flow below the hen. I also placed an ice packet, wrapped in a plastic bag below the cage. I would not keep her in the garage if it’s warm in there.

    Had the same issue last week with a BO. Followed the advise given, put her in a small cage and she broke in 24 hours.

    Cannot say about your area but your coop would kill my chickens. Due to the high humidity and high temperatures we need open coops. Attached is a picture of mine.
