Making prints of your chickens' feet?

Has anyone had success making either feet prints -either inked or plaster- with their chickens? I've done it for kids, cats, dogs, rabbits as mementos... but not sure what would be safe and easy for chickens? I'm thinking the ink ones are a no go. Cheers!

Shell-less egg - no membrane. Do we need to check for stuck membrane?

Hello, We've got a 3 year old Orpington who is very small compared to the other girls and lowest on the chicken hierarchy. She's had about 3 months of laying shell-less eggs every 2 weeks. But normal-ish eggs the rest of the time (a bit thinner with some calcium deposits). It seemed cyclical...

Shell less Eggs and calcium deposits on eggs

Thanks. I understand it might just be here (we have another girl that lays multiple at the same time - just how she is), but thought I'd give it a post just in case anyone else has seen similar and found alternate solutions. She was def not feeling great until she laid it an hour after bed (we...

Shell less Eggs and calcium deposits on eggs

Hiya, We've got a 3 year old lowest on the pecking order (looks like a runt at this point) Orpington hen. She's been laying multiple shell less eggs over night one night last week and last night. Other girls are laying correctly. I understand there's a myriad of reasons for shell less eggs...

Egg withholding - can you give to chickens?

We've been told to give our girls coxiprol to try with an issue we've got and it has a 10 day egg withholding period. I was wondering, can you (cook and) give the chickens their eggs when they're being given coxiprol or other meds they might all be on?

She's suddenly decided to be an escape artist and doesn't like her girls

No unfortunately it's a huge area. We have some bamboo sticks that go higher than the current fence, so we're making it a bit taller, but I don't know that will keep her in.

She's suddenly decided to be an escape artist and doesn't like her girls

TLDR; Our oldest and smallest has suddenly decided to fly over her run fence to go digging. I moved their fence out further so she had even more and new areas to dig, but she's decided to just leave as soon as I put her back in the run. Our momma hen was given to use when we got our four...

Swollen ears, eye bubbles, red face - in autumn

Our first girl with the swollen ear is slowly getting better. Vet said she'd have to be brought into the clinic in to get an antibiotic injection (as would other chickens if they're showing signs... :( ) and they won't give her pills. Her and her sister's ears are slowly going down, and they're...

Swollen ears, eye bubbles, red face - in autumn

Still trying to get antibiotics for our girls. Local vet is not a chicken vet and quite useless (they only want to treat the one chicken and we'd have to bring her in for an injection of antibiotics!). We have been given some pain relief, but not sure how much that's doing. We def have a second...

Swollen ears, eye bubbles, red face - in autumn

Hello everyone - We have 5 Orpingtons 2.5 years old. I'm in New Zealand so molting season is halfway done. We had so much sickness in the flock over summer I was glad everyone seemed to be doing okay ish. Our girl Serena had a day or two of sour crop (others had surgery and months worth)...

    Is this bumble healing?

We think it's healing. Yesterday the skin over the wound was pink with a tiny bit of black (most was dirt, she loves trying to take off the dressings). I'm taking photos of the top of the foot to make sure that swelling goes down there as well. It's not warm, but she is standing off from the...

    Is this bumble healing?

Warning - I've kept the thumbnails small because the wounds are quite gross. One of our girls (2 yr old Orpington blue), had a bumble we thought we took out pretty well. But two weeks later the black plug came back larger, so we soaked for a few days and took it out again and it looked like...

Single ongoing eye bubble; anything I should worry about/can try?

Hello, Finally replying, as I hadn't seen the eye bubbles for almost two weeks. This is the first time it's not just one big one, but little ones. Managed to just catch this on camera since she runs at the sight of a phone, but as soon as she ran away, the bubbles were gone. I am wondering if...

Single ongoing eye bubble; anything I should worry about/can try?

Will do. I saw it very briefly on another girl tonight, but she ran away before I could get a photo, then it was gone.
