- I live in Key West & am an ' accepted member ' of many flocks of wild chickens on the island that I help out . Usually abandoned or injured chicks can't wait to get back to their family's after they are helped except one that wandered too far from his mom that other hens & chicks were determined to kill him so he didn't want to go back outside & made me his mom at 1-2 days old. He's 3 wks & he stretches his legs but I can't tell what else before he poops to reward him. Any tips ???
