Freedom Ranger experience and feed #s

I raised 26 FRs last year to about 11.5 weeks. I think the feed efficiency drops after about week 7. I couldn't prove that for FR, but it does on Cornish X.

    Ugly meaties!

Quote: I have to disagree a bit about the Freedom Rangers. They grow more slowly than most Cornish X, but that depends a lot on feed. I fed mine pretty high protein feed, and a couple developed leg problems--worse than my Cornish X on a lower protein feed the year before. And Freedom Rangers...

    Crested Cream Legbars

I think Rockin' Rooster Ranch in Arizona used to have them (maybe still do). I can't find a website for them, but other contact info is on the Feathersite hatchery page: http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/BRKHatcheries.html

Any suggestions for which...

Show off your Delawares! *PIC HEAVY*

Seems to me that big hatcheries wouldn't necessarily keep all the breeds they sell--that they'd buy hatching eggs from breeders of some types they don't sell lots of. To me, it's possible that not all hatchery stock is necessarily production stock. Still, I'd rather buy from a breeder so I can...

Though y'all might like this. Heritage Chicken Breeds’ Various Values.

Hi, New to this forum. I keep a mixed flock of 18 hens/pullets and have raised Cornish Cross and Freedom Rangers for meat. Also had some layer ducks last year. Just wandering what folks think of this article: http://www.drsharma.ca/do-non-exercising-chicken-promote-obesity-in-humans.html Seems...
