    hi- yes, i built my coop out of a pickup truck cap and also put a "used" dog kennel around it. in addition, got some wire mesh at tractor supply and laid it over the kennel area to keep critters out. i tried to post a photo but the group wouldn't let me????? :-(

    hi- located in north pownal, vermont. it gets a little chilly here (ha,ha). it was 18F this morning and the water is fine. i am not sure if it has a thermostat or not, but it works and supposedly operates at the rate of a 25w light bulb. thanks, carl

    "Ruthie" gave us her first egg on Monday, 7/22/13. We love Ruthie. The first egg was slightly cracked (pecked). The second was a double yoker. She is averaging 5-6 a week.

    hi mpare- thank you for your suggestion...i never thought of that! the reason for putting the nest above is, of course, to be able to lift the rear window to gather the eggs. it would be a bummer if that doesn't work out. cool...thanks for your input! carl
