Checked them tonight. Saw movement in most--except the eggers. Although i did actually get to see movement in Gimpy's egg.
This weekend is gonna be busy. Pullets to possibly let out with big girls and cockerels to process to make room for the chicks lol.
Almost there!
Out of 30 so far 4...
ONE WEEK! (ish) lol
Im excited but yesterday was rough. I still have 5-6 cockerels to dispatch and we lost a hen--Gimpy, yup, one egg from her in incubator. Ug.
Found a dead chicken this morning, as well as a clutch of eggs under the coop. Luckily candling showed nothing.
While i have 5 cockerels i have yet to dispatch bc ive been under the weather and drained, i have 25 viable eggs in incubator. And three(ish) weeks to decide if Im taking chickens...
Have you tried a drop of water to see what color is under the bloom, or cracking it to see what color is in the shell? Not sure if it may assist with ID?
I have no idea what those two lay but we have an egger who often lays a grey egg from heavy bloom.
Comparing both SE1 and SE2, I'm going to say SE1 didn't start. I see no veins. I was able to check before all lights came on and it was dark this morning.
Since i waited a bit, I was able to get a better look at my darker oliver eggers. SE1 yolk was following my rotation, meaning it likely didn't start. Those darker ones are difficult to tell. I forget who named SE1 Peanut, we can keep it and hope for best or remain. (@LoveLoveFluffybutts ?)
